SBC Scrapbook Challenges Design Team = Awesome

Is it true?  Did Scrapbook Challenges (aka-SBC) really pick me to be on their Design Team?  Heck yes they did and I'm so excited to be a part of their awesomeness.  They have weekly challenges to inspire your creativity.  

This week's sketch is #424: 

Isn't that an awesome sketch?  Their is so much you can do with it. Here's what I did:

I altered the sketch quite a bit.  I kept the basic design of the sketch, but moved stuff around.  For instance:  I used one photo instead of two, tightened up the layers, moved the embellishment clusters, and made it my own. 

To me, a sketch is a basic idea for me to make my own.  Sometimes my creations look exactly like the sketch, and sometimes totally different, but I always get some sort of inspiration in the process.

Do you use sketches?  If so, does your finished project resemble the sketch?

Christmas Tradition Scrapbook Page Challenge

With a 3 year old son, our family is starting quite a few new Christmas Traditions.  Some of them are passed down from my husband and I's childhood, and some we are just starting with our new family.  

The Moose Lodge Kids Holiday Party is a new tradition we started just last year.  The Moose Lodge is a place a few islands up from our island, that has a huge Holiday bash including, pizza, cookies, a wrapped gift, and of course.....Santa's lap.

For this layout, I cut out large chevrons from printed vellum and sewed them to my plain white background.  Then I just layered behind my photo with a doily, copy paper, and patterned paper.  Finally, I stuck some die cuts and journaling cards in between my layers, and finished of with wood veneer shapes.

I did this layout along with the Challenge YOUrself Blog's Challenge #13 "Traditions".

This is the second challenge I've done with this blog.  It's a great place to go for inspiration and I'll definitely be following along from now on.
